Grounded by the core belief that everyone deserves to have their voice be heard, founding director and principal of IMPACT Practice Advisors Jehan Benton-Clark pushes philanthropic institutions and nonprofits to prioritize community voice in strategy development and deployment. She also happens to be a master on the mic herself (never having met a DJ she didn’t want to partner with). Jehan also believes that the people closest to the problem know best how to solve it, and her work reflects this fundamental conviction – that we must transform philanthropic practices to center community engagement and equity.
Jehan has an extensive background in place-based philanthropy, capacity building, rural grantmaking and organizational change management. Before launching IMPACT Practice Advisors, Jehan held positions as the Senior Director of Advancing Equity and Justice and Portfolio Director for Community Investment and Impact at the Colorado Health Foundation. She was responsible for the shared deployment and impact of $146 million in community investments annually, and leading organization-wide strategies designed to advance health equity, racial justice and systems change alongside communities and leaders in Colorado. Jehan previously worked at the Kate B. Reynolds Charitable Trust, served as Executive Director of Partners Ending Homelessness and led health and early childhood education investments at the United Way of Greater Greensboro.
Jehan holds a Master’s in Social Service Administration with a concentration in community planning, organizing, and development from the University of Chicago. She is a Professional Certified Coach (PCC), credentialed by the International Coaching Federation, and a Senior Certified Professional Coach from the Coach Transformation Academy.
